Genesis Center's Financial Opportunity Center (FOC) is based on LISC's  national model, providing integrated counseling services in the areas of income supports, employment, and financial stability.  FOC services are listed below.  

Job Placement & Career Improvement

Genesis Center's Employment Coach prepares students to join the workforce and advance within their chosen field.  Services include:

  • Develop a professional resume
  • Learn about soft skills and professionalism in the workplace
  • Dress for success
  • Develop skills in conflict resolution
  • Gain interviews skills and participate in mock interviews with industry professionals
  • Intern with an employer partner to develop experience and expand resume
  • Continue receiving support post-employment to ensure retention and promote advancement

Genesis Center’s Case Manager provides students with the supports they need to overcome barriers and achieve success, including:

  • Transportation
  • Child Care
  • Housing
  • Food
  • Domestic Violence
  • Substance Abuse
  • Legal Issues

    Special Programs

    LISC TWIN Accounts:  Together with our partner LISC, Genesis offers a 12 month credit building loan.  By agreeing to save just $26 dollars a month participants can build credit, save $300 of their own money, and receive an extra $300 to open a credit card.  Learn More

    Keys To Success:  Individuals planning to purchase reliable vehicles can open special savings accounts with Genesis and Pawtucket Credit Union.  In as few as 6 months participants can have $2,000 matched dollar-for-dollar toward the purchase of an approved vehicle.  Learn More

    Genesis Center's Financial Coach with help students overcome financial challenges and make plans to secure their future success, including:

    • Establish or repair credit
    • Develop a family budget
    • Save money

    • Plan for large purchases such as homes, higher education, and vehicles
