Genesis Center Welcomes New Development Director Lauren Jordan
PROVIDENCE (June 25, 2019) – Genesis Center’s Board of Directors and staff welcomed their new development director, Lauren Jordan, to the organization. A resident of Providence, Jordan was previously the director of advancement at the Rhode Island Historical Society and associate development director at Gordon School. At Genesis Center, she will be responsible for developing and implementing fundraising efforts and contributing to the organization’s long-term resiliency.
“We are so excited that Lauren has joined our team. We have been without a development director for many years, and with the current growth in our programs, this is the perfect time to have someone with Lauren’s experience and track record on board to communicate our message and raise funds so we can increase our positive impact on our community,” says Shannon Carroll, Genesis Center’s president & CEO.
Jordan, who has nearly 20 years of fundraising experience with educational institutions and nonprofits, brings a wealth of knowledge to her new position. Her experience includes communications, event planning, and fund management. She received her bachelor’s degree in business administration from Bryant University in Smithfield, RI.
As development director, Jordan looks forward to developing Genesis Center’s donor strategies and increasing fundraising opportunities, as well as managing the organization’s communications and marketing outreach. “I am so excited to join the team at Genesis Center. I look forward to connecting with our supporters to advance the mission and work here at Genesis,” Jordan said.
Each year, Genesis Center serves over 800 individuals in adult education and workforce development and over 100 children in its childcare program. Genesis adult education classes and occupational/job skills training focus on enabling people to improve their employment skills, pay scales, and prospects for promotion. The on-site early learning center helps adult students attend classes knowing that their children are nearby and in good care.
