ESOL Learning Facilitator, Part-Time (2 positions)

Genesis Center, a nonprofit organization whose mission is “to provide the highest quality education, job training and support services to people of diverse cultures so that they may achieve economic independence and participate fully in society” is seeking a part-time Learning Facilitator (11.25 hours per week) for an evening ESOL class.

The Learning Facilitator will develop and implement a mission-driven, client-centered, and outcome-focused education curriculum that facilitates adult learners’ goal attainment through classroom instruction. Genesis Center’s integrated program platform includes instruction in listening, speaking, reading, and writing, and integrates technology, financial literacy, and work readiness into coursework aimed at building English proficiency for non-native speakers.

We are seeking experienced professionals with a minimum of 3-5 years’ experience teaching in adult education or a related field. The ideal candidate should possess a familiarity with educational standards and curriculum development, experience working with diverse populations, and sensitivity and commitment to the Genesis Center mission, which includes an understanding and appreciation of special problems and stressors of refugee and immigrant families.

Bachelor’s degree required.

The teaching schedule for this position is Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday evenings from 6-8:30 pm. Classes will be held at Providence Housing Authority’s Codding Court Education & Training Center, located on Dodge Street in Providence, RI or the Thomas J. Anton Community Center on Laurel Hill in Providence, RI. Total pay includes time for lesson planning and administrative tasks for a total of 11.25 paid hours/week.
