Early Learning Center Program Assistant

Description: Genesis Early Learning Center, a 5-star BrightStars program, is looking for an experienced, organized, and reliable individual with a love of Early Childhood to join our team as a full-time Program Assistant.  The Program Assistant will work directly with the Early Childhood Education Director and be responsible for supporting overall program functions.  Candidates should have experience working in an early childhood setting, be community- and client-focused, and possess excellent customer service skills.  Typical responsibilities are assisting with overall operations and services on a daily basis, such as greeting visitors, answering phones, helping parents with enrollment applications, maintaining paper and electronic files, performing clerical duties, and offering general administrative support to the Early Childhood Education Director and staff, including mentoring and classroom coverage, as needed. 

This is a full-time (37.5 hours /week), year-round position with a competitive salary and benefits package with medical, dental, retirement savings plan, paid time off and holidays. This job requires an awareness of  licensing regulations, Rhode Island Department of Education Early Learning Standards, Genesis Personnel Policies, and developmentally appropriate practices (DAP) as defined by the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC) and Caring For Our Children to ensure that all staff are in compliance so that all children and families have the opportunity for a high quality, nurturing, and safe learning experience.  It is also required that at least 30 hrs professional development be completed annually.

Qualifications: Associate’s Degree or higher in ECE or related field is preferred, but other degrees and qualifications will be considered.  The ideal applicant is English/Spanish bi-lingual, but the ability to speak languages other than English is not required.  The Program Assistant must possess strong communication and interpersonal skills, as well as ability to use technology, including all Microsoft Applications. Candidates will assist in overseeing documentation and compliance for various programs including Early Head Start, State Pre K, and CACFP and supervising/mentoring staff and ECE Apprentices.  Ability to see, hear and lift children up to 50lbs, as needed, is required.  Must have the ability pass all required background checks.

This is the ideal position for someone looking to get out of the classroom, but remain in the field of ECE.
